GitHub introduces a brand-new desktop app. The new desktop app for GitHub is built on Electron, which is also powering some of the other popular desktop apps in the market, including the likes of Microsoft’s Visual Studio code, Slack, Spotify, and more. Along with Electron, the new GitHub desktop app is also written in Microsoft’s TypeScript, and it’s open-source.
In terms of features, there isn’t a staggering difference between the old GitHub Desktop and the new one. There is, however, a huge upgrade when it comes to the user-interface of the app as GitHub has completely revamped the interface to provide a unified user experience on both Windows and the Mac.
