Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor was one of 2014’s biggest games. It was a large, open game set in world of Tolkien’s ever-popular Middle-Earth. The Nemesis System let enemies you previously fought grow into revenge seeking commanders – among other things – and was one of the main things that made the game so interesting.

Shadow of War originally leaked at the end of last month, with an official announcement coming the very next day. The announcement was heralded by a fully CGI trailer, with a promise of some gameplay footage coming later on.

16 minute long gameplay video is out, and you can watch it below:

One of the biggest changes is that you can have followers that assist with massive sieges, and there’s a chance that some of them might change sides after being tempted by Sauron’s power. Sounds really cool!

Middle-earth: Shadow of War releases on August 22nd of this year. It’s going to be an Xbox Play Anywhere title.
