Hyper-V Virtual Disk Operations: Compact, Convert, Zwiększać, and Shrink – How to Guide and Tips.
Compact
1. Uruchom swoje Hyper-V Menedżer i kliknij Edytuj dysk;
2. Trzask Następny;
3. Kliknij Przeglądać to select your disk for operations;
4. After Disk is selected click Następny;
5. First option is Compact (this is the simplest operation). Trzask Następny;
6. At the next page click Następny;
Convert
1. Option Convert (change your Virtual Disk format, *.vhd or *.vhdx). Trzask Następny;
2. Select the format and click Następny;
3. Select the type of Virtual Disk.
NOTATKA: In enterprise is Best Practice – to use a Virtual Disk type Fixed size.
4. Make a choice and click Następny;
5. Kliknij Przeglądać to select the final name and destination of Virtual Disk, i kliknij Ratować;
7. If it’s ok – click Następny;
8. Trzask Skończyć to run this operation;
Zwiększać
1. Uruchomić Hyper-V Manager and click on Inspect Disk and select target Dysk wirtualny to show information about it. Kliknij Zamknąć przycisk;
2. We have 60 GB VHDX, Expand it. Click on Edit Disk in Hyper-V Menedżer; Kliknij Następny przycisk;
3. Trzask the Browse button and select target Dysk wirtualny;
4. After selecting click the Następny przycisk;
5. Wybierać Zwiększać option and click the Następny przycisk;
6. Enter the new size and click the Next button, I’m set to 80 GB. (You must have free space to do this);
7. Check the final information and click the Skończyć przycisk;
8. Let’s Sprawdź dysk again. As we see – it now 80 GB size.
9. Połącz się z maszyna wirtualna, which Virtual Disk we Zwiększać. Login in (user must have Local Administrator Rights) and open This PC;
10. As we see it’s 60 GB (old size) but not 80 GB. Zamknąć This PC. Prawy przycisk myszy kliknij Początek przycisk i wybierz Disk Management;
11. After the Disk Management console opens you will see Unallocated space on the Disk (20 GB);
12. Prawy przycisk myszy click on Disk “(C:)” and select Extend Volume;
13. Kliknij Następny przycisk;
14. It shows up space for extending. Kliknij Następny przycisk;
15. Trzask Skończyć to apply changes;
16. As we see – The disk is extended to 80 GB, close the Disk Management konsola;
17. Open “This PC again. Hooray “Local Disk (C:)” now has an 80 GB size.
Shrink
1. Uruchomić Hyper-V Manager and make sure your Maszyna wirtualna (maszyna wirtualna) with target “Dysk wirtualny is in an Wyłączony state. Zamknąć Hyper-V Menedżer;
2. Otwarte Disk Management on the Hyper-V computer (local pc). Prawy przycisk myszy kliknij Początek przycisk i wybierz Disk Management;
3. Po the Disk Management console opens, go to the upper menu. Trzask Action and then Attach VHD;
4. Trzask Przeglądać to select the target Dysk wirtualny file;
5. After selecting click the OK przycisk;
6. We connected Dysk wirtualny;
7. Prawy przycisk myszy click on the connected Disk and select Shrink Volume;
8. Enter the size in MB (Megabytes) to shrink from Disk. Kliknij Shrink przycisk;
9. Doskonały, shrinking is successful;
10. Prawy przycisk myszy click on your Dysk wirtualny i wybierz Detach VHD;
11. Trzask OK and close the Disk Management konsola;
12. Uruchom swoje Hyper-V Manager and click on Edytuj dysk;
13. Kliknij Następny przycisk;
14. Kliknij Przeglądać button to select target Dysk wirtualny;
15. After selecting Disk click the Następny przycisk;
16. As you see we get a new option Shrink, select it and click the Następny przycisk;
NOTATKA: Option “Shrink” is available if “Dysk wirtualny” has “Unallocated” space.
17. Enter the new size and click the Skończyć przycisk;
18. Inspect our Dysk wirtualny again, now it’s 41 GB;
19. In the system;
